
David Mayer is a historian specialised in transnational contemporary history. In 2011 he completed his PhD-research on the history of Marxist historiographic debates in Latin America in the ‘long 1960s’. He has spent lengthy research stays in Latin America.
David Mayer’s main research interests are the history of social movements and labour history, the history of historiography, the history of Marxism and left-wing intellectuals, and politics of history. He has published, accordingly, on topics such as the history of Marxist historiography, 1968 from a Global History perspective, the Communist International in Latin America, the transnational dimension of social movements in Latin America, and the political uses of history among the Latin American left.
